ILOILO — The Nacionalista Party (NP) has endorsed the eldest daughter of the late Dueñas vice mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan to fill a vacant seat in the municipal council, formalizing a succession move following the sudden death of the town official earlier this month.
Yzabelle Annika Lamasan Padojinog was nominated by the NP to assume a seat in the Sangguniang Bayan of Dueñas after taking her oath as a party member before 4th District’s Cong. Ferjenel Biron on Wednesday, January 7, at the Dueñas Social Hall.
The oath-taking coincided with the necrological service for her mother, Vice Mayor Lamasan, whose death created a leadership vacuum in the local government.
The council seat became vacant after then No. 1 councilor Pia June Pama assumed the vice mayoralty following Lamasan’s death due to accidental firearm discharge.
Pama formally took her oath as vice mayor on January 5.
Biron said Padojinog is expected to take a formal oath before NP chairman Manny Villar and Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. to officially assume her post as councilor.
