
MANILA — National University Nazareth School Lady Bullpups prevailed over Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts, 27-25, 16-25, 21-25, 30-28, and 15-13, to rule the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Rising Cup 2025 Division 1 on Saturday at the La Salle Green Hills Gym.
Sam Cantada spearheaded the offense with 21 points, coming from 15 attacks, three blocks, and three service aces, leading the Lady Bullpups to a come-from-behind victory.
Denesse Daylisan tallied 21 points, consisting of 18 attacks, two blocks, and one service ace, while Jenelyn Jacob and Harlyn Serneche had 14 and 12, respectively, for the Lady Bullpups.
Rhose Viane Almendralejo top-scored for the Thunderbolts with 35 points, Ana Hermosura added 20 markers, while Alexa Bertolano and Dona Mae de Leon had 11 and 10, respectively.
This marks the second consecutive year that the Thunderbolts finished runners-up, having also fallen short against the Adamson University Lady Baby Falcons last year.
Despite the loss, several Thunderbolts were recognized with Almendralejo taking the Best Outside Hitter award, Camila Bartolome as Best Middle Blocker, Rhea Mae Tomas as Best Libero, and Jan Rose Bulak as Best Setter.
Meanwhile, De La Salle Lipa secured the bronze medal in Division 1 after defeating Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Brigadiers, 25-22, 25-11, 25-20. Maxene Sumagaysay led DLSL with 11 points.
Domuschola International School bagged the Division 2 title after sweeping Everest International Academy, 25-11, 26-24, 25-17. Naihma Banal was the top scorer for Domuschola with 19 points.
Immaculate Conception Academy claimed the Division 2 bronze medal after overcoming Paul College Pasig, 25-12, 25-14, 25-16. Andy Tsai was the standout player for ICA, recording 13 points./PN
