AKLAN – A third year nursing student drowned in a resort in Barangay Logohon, Madalag town in this province around 11:25 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31.
The 20-year-old Karen Tumaca, a resident of Malay town was rushed by the personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
According to the Madalag police station, the owner of the Macapio Cold River Spring told the victim and her friends not to go deeper into the waters since their lifeguards were on break.
The victim’s boyfriend said her girlfriend knew how to swim and he was confident she would not drown.
Police added that the victim’s companions were already shouting for help and it took around five minutes before the rescuers recovered the victim’s body./PN
