ILOILO City – A 51-year-old drug peddler was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Zone 3, Barangay Boulevard, Molo district on Tuesday, July 30, after yielding P340,000 worth of suspected crystal meth, or shabu.

The Iloilo City Police Office’s City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) identified the suspect as Amador “Alog” Florentino, a resident of the district’s Barangay San Juan.

Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Benitez Jr., chief of the CDEU, said a total of 11 plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 50 grams and P7,500 in buy-bust money were seized.

The suspect was under surveillance for two weeks before the operation, said Benitez.

Florentino, in an interview, denied involvement in the illegal drug trade. He said that he was only instructed by a certain Jepoy to dispose the illegal drugs.

The suspect was detained at the Molo police station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Acts of 2002./PN
