The motoring public will see higher prices for petroleum products this week, with pump prices of diesel rising for the third straight week.

In an advisory, Petron and Seaoil said diesel would go up by 20 centavos per liter starting today, January 13.

Gasoline and kerosene are also set for an increase of 30 centavos per liter. This also marks kerosene’s third consecutive week of increases.

But last week, price cuts had been expected as global oil benchmarks declined amid ample supply.

In an advisory on January 9, Jetti Petroleum president Leo Bellas said diesel prices could drop by 10-30 centavos per liter.

Oil firms usually announce their price movements every Monday, with the implementation set for the following day. (Lisbet K. Esmael © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
