‘Oplan Disiplina’ lessens road mishaps Antique town

SAN JOSE, Antique – The intensified implementation of municipal traffic ordinance and Republic Act 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code resulted to lesser road accidents and traffic violators which also improved discipline among drivers in this municipality, Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca said.

Darroca, chief of San Jose police station, added that the number of road mishaps from 82 in January to September 2018 was reduced to 19 of the same months this year.

“We will enforce the law without fear or favor. The law applies to all, including us, the law enforcers.” Darroca said.

From July to Sept. 23 this year, the “Opan Displina” impounded a total of 1,048 vehicles including 993 motorcycles; 47 tricycles; six Sedan/SUVs; and two trucks.

The operation also led to the confiscation of around 2, 511 driver’s licenses from motorcycles (1,830), tricycles (515), Sedan/SUVs (158), and trucks (8).

Darroca also urged the public to obey the law and report violators to the police.

“Bring your license, registration, helmet, and complete and functional accessories. Modified mufflers are not allowed. Obey traffic signs and warnings. Read signs before parking. National Highway is No Parking Zone.” Darroca said.

“Please cooperate in our anti-criminality programs and activities and we will have a peaceful and secured San Jose that is a better place to live, work and invest. God bless us all,” added Darroca./PN
