MORE than 10,000 scholarship slots under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) have been set aside for Iloilo province this year, Malacañang said.
A total of P170 million has been allotted for these slots, according to Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque.
“These scholarships are meant to enhance jobs and employability of graduates, aside from promoting and advocating the various programs and services of TESDA,” Roque said in Alimodian town recently.
Nearly 4,000 people got into various TESDA training programs during the National Technical-Vocational Education and Training Enrolment Day in February, said the Palace official.
According to TESDA, its training programs would help address job-skills mismatch.
Helping people choose in-demand courses and employment opportunities appropriate for their skills will solve job-skills mismatch, said the agency.
“We expect that, with TESDA’s training programs, more graduates will be afforded the appropriate skills needed for better employability,” said Roque./PN
