ILOILO City – More than 1,000 business establishments have yet to renew their permits, data from the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) of city hall showed.
The deadline for the renewal of business permits was Jan. 20.
Perhaps some of these businesses opted to close shop or their owners were willing to pay the 25 percent surcharge, said Norman Tabud, BPLO chief.
Businesses operating without renewed licenses risk closure.
“There’s a process to follow. First, a notice of violation will be issued,” said Tabud.
The City Treasurer’s Office and BPLO can separately check the permits of businesses.
“Last year, we closed those that failed to renew their business permits,” said Tabud.
Last year, over 13,000 businesses were able to get permits. This year, the BPLO recorded around 12,000./PN
