Over 33T jobs up for grabs at capitol fair

ILOILO – The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the provincial government of Iloilo is holding a job fair on June 1 at the provincial capitol.

Some 33,120 jobs are available, according to PESO manager Francisco Heler Jr.

One hundred fifty-six companies are participating, including 29 job recruitment agencies.

The job fair’s theme is Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan sa Agrikultura at Turismo.

According to Heler, among the jobs available are for call center agents, teachers, sales agents, nurses, physical therapists, medical technologists, doctors, pharmacists, carpenters, welders, engineers (mechanical, civil or electrical), drivers, technicians (electrical, mechanical or air-conditioning), information technology technicians, computer operators, and maintenance personnel.

The following government agencies, on the other hand, are setting up help desks at the job fair to help applicants: Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Foreign Affairs, National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., Social Security System, and Professional Regulation Commission.

Heler said the local governments of 15 municipalities would help job hunters in their areas by providing free transport to them in going to the capitol for the job fair.

These are the towns of Alimodian, Anilao, Barotac Viejo, Cabatuan, Concepcion, Igbaras, Janiuay, Lambunao, Leon, Maasin, Miag-ao, San Miguel, Santa Barbara, Tubungan, and Zarraga.

The PESO has started the pre-registration of applicants at its office at the third floor of the Iloilo provincial capitol./PN
