ILOILO City – Approximately P1,020,000 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay Caw-i, Batad, Iloilo, early Thursday morning, October 30.
The operation jointly carried out by the Batad Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit also led to the arrest of two suspects: aliases “Toto”, 31, classified as a high-value target, and “Ram”, 27, a street-level individual. They were both residents of Barangay Bulak Sur, Batad.
The suspects were caught at around 3:40 a.m. after they sold a plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for P8,600.
Police recovered a total of four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing around 150 grams, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.
Batad police said the suspects had been under three months of intelligence monitoring for allegedly supplying shabu to neighboring towns in the 5th district of Iloilo.
The suspects are now under police custody for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
