CAPIZ – A street-level drug suspect was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Malocloc Norte, Ivisan town, around 9:13 p.m. on August 21.
The operation, conducted under the supervision of Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) director Colonel Albert D. Tapulao, was carried out by the Ivisan Municipal Police Station (MPS) in coordination with the Sigma MPS, Mambusao MPS, and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit.
Authorities seized three plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately three grams, with an estimated street value of P20,400. Various drug paraphernalia and other non-drug-related items were also confiscated.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Ivisan MPS and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which imposes strict penalties for offenses related to illegal drugs.
Police officials reaffirmed their commitment to the government’s campaign against illegal drugs and stressed the importance of public cooperation in sustaining peace and order. They also lauded the teamwork of participating units, noting its crucial role in ensuring the success of the operation.
Meanwhile, the CPPO continues to strengthen its preventive efforts by partnering with youth organizations in drug awareness and prevention symposiums. These activities aim to empower young leaders by equipping them with knowledge and tools to promote community safety, advocate for drug-free initiatives, and enhance disaster resilience.
Led by law enforcement experts and substance abuse prevention specialists, the sessions highlight the dangers of drug use and effective strategies to counter it. They also encourage collaboration between youth and authorities in the fight against illegal drugs.
