ILOILO — Anti-narcotics operatives of the Maasin Municipal Police Station (MPS) apprehended a high-value drug target and seized approximately P435,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in the town’s Barangay Naslo.

Police identified the suspect as alias “Rey,” 38, a resident of Barangay Layog, Maasin.

The operation, executed around 10:07 p.m. on Monday, August 24, yielded around 60 grams of suspected illegal drugs following tips from local community members regarding the suspect’s alleged involvement in the drug trade.

Police Colonel Bayani M. Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), commended the Maasin MPS as well as the vigilance of local residents.

“The relentless campaign of Ilonggo cops against illegal drugs underscores our commitment to sustained law enforcement operations in close coordination with the community and other law enforcement agencies. With their support, we can bring those involved in the illegal drug trade before the court of law,” Razalan said.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Maasin MPS, facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
