BACOLOD City – Two hundred eighty poor residents of this city were given P5,000 in financial assistance each.

The P1.4-million aid was under the Expanded Assistance to Individuals in Crises Situation program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Negros Island Region.

The beneficiaries sought educational and medical assistance at the office of Rep. Greg Gasataya.

Gasataya’s office facilitated the release of the financial aid at the BAYS Center on Dec. 20, 2016.

The congressman vowed to lobby for more beneficiaries and more funding from the DSWD central office this year.

The following day a mobile dental bus worth P3.9 million was turned over to the City Health Office (CHO).

Gasataya also facilitated the donation from the Department of Health.

He handed over the bus to the CHO through the CHO head Dr. Ma. Carmela Gensoli and Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

Gasataya said the residents need not go to the CHO for dental health services; the bus will visit their barangays.

Equipped with two dental chairs and complete equipment, the bus may accommodate up to 50 patients a day, Gensoli said./PN
