ILOILO City – A newly identified drug pushing suspect was arrested yesterday in Barangay Our Lady of Fatima, Jaro district. Police seized P150,000 worth of shabu.

The 31-year-old Jandee Pachez of Barangay Zaldivar, Buenavista, Guimaras sold a sachet of shabu to an undercover police officer around 2:40 a.m.

Five more sachets were seized from the suspect, said Senior Inspector Rey Pabalan, chief of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU).

“He was into selling huge volumes of shabu. We also recovered a weighing scale in his rented room. In fact, he was repacking shabu during our buy-bust operation,” said Pabalan.

Pachez was placed under surveillance for two weeks prior to yesterday’s sting operation.

As of this writing, the RDEU was still trying to identify the suspect’s supplier. It placed the street value of yesterday’s recoveries at P150,000.

According to Senior Superintendent Christopher Tambungan, PRO-6 deputy regional director for operations, the suspect took advantage of the one-month lull in the police’s antidrug campaign to sell shabu.

“Kaya malaki ang dala nyang droga,” Tambungan told Panay News.

After Pachez was arrested, his suspected subgroup member was also caught. Lastin Joy Opao, 22, of Barangay Ilabas, Sibalom, Antique was arrested in Barangay Kasing-Kasing, Molo district.

Two sachets of shabu were recovered from Opao. She told the police she got it from Pachez.

Pachez was detained at the Jaro police station while Opao was taken to the Molo police station. Both face a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
