BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Negros Occidental allotted P21 million for anti-terrorism campaigns.
In its regular session on Aug. 2, the provincial board approved the budget to be divided among agencies that will make up the Task Force Buglas, said Board member Samson Mirhan, chairman of SP committee on disaster preparedness.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. signed an executive order creating the task force assigned to coordinate agencies that will protect the province from terrorism, crime and other threats.
Marañon said the task force will also provide humanitarian aid in times of disasters.
Around P8 million was allotted for the anticrime task group of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, P4.3 million for the internal security unit of the Philippine Army, P1.5 million for the coast watch of the Philippine National Police-Maritime Group, P350,000 for the Provincial Planning and Development Office, and P4 million for humanitarian disaster and response projects.
For the information education advocacy, P1.8 million was allotted, P284,000 for equipment, and P438,000 as contingency fund.
The money was taken from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office 2017 budget./PN
