P250K worth of properties lost to Capiz fire

CAPIZ – A residential property in Sitio Ilaya, Barangay Bangaan, Panitan town was partially damaged causing an estimated P250,000 worth of property lost after a fire broke out on Saturday afternoon, June 29.

The house, owned by 69-year-old Nora Duran, was unoccupied at the time of the incident as she had left briefly to run errands.

According to Fire Officer 1 Jhonny Diaz, arson investigator at the Panitan Fire Station, their team received an emergency call and responded immediately. Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes and quickly worked to control the blaze and minimize the damage.

The house was made of light materials, thus the fire spread rapidly.

The cause of the blaze was still under investigation, with authorities looking into possible electrical issues or other ignition sources.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud crackling noise shortly before flames were noticed, prompting them to alert emergency services. The local community has since come together to offer assistance to Duran in the aftermath of the fire.

No injuries were reported in the incident./PN
