BACOLOD City – Each Negros Occidental provincial government worker will get P27,000 in additional bonus.
Provincial Board member Salvador Escalante said they hope to release the amount today.
“Processing of payroll is ongoing right now,” Escalante told Panay News on Tuesday. “Hopefully, [the] earliest [release] will be tomorrow (Wednesday).”
In 2015 each provincial government employee received some P35,000 in additional bonus.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. had promised the employees additional bonuses. He asserted that there is no need for a Malacañang order for the provincial government to give the workers such benefit.
Capitol already released the salary differential, 14th month pay, Collective Negotiation Agreement incentive, and the Performance Enhancement Incentive, Escalante said.
Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees members thanked the governor for all the benefits they have received.
“We hope to be of service to the Negrenses pursuant to the development of the province,” the group’s vice president Renelo Lastierre said in a statement.
Earlier Lastierre said the capitol workers “always expect extra bonuses.”
They have been getting additional bonus since the administration of Joseph Marañon, he said.
“It is a legacy that we expect every Christmastime,” Lastierre said. “These incentives are a form of reward for our service, which has resulted in the provincial government receiving many awards, like the Seal of Housekeeping.”/PN
