BACOLOD City – Police confiscatedP3.3 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Two men were arrested: Jimsel Balboa and Dennis Esmeralda, both 27 years old.

Weighing around 331.23 grams, the suspected shabu were placed inside shampoo and lotion bottles contained in a courier service package the suspects were carrying, said Superintendent Willy Diel, Silay City police chief.

According to Diel, they only recovered the items by chance.

Police initially staged a buy-bust operation against Esmeralda around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday along Rizal Street.
Esmeralda yielded several sachets of suspected shabu.

The officers spotted an LBC package consigned to Balboa and sent by Pocholo Bernabe of Barangay Bayanan, Muntinlupa City.
Suspicious, the police told the men to open the package.

That was when they found 18 sachets of suspected shabu: 17 weighed around 19.4 grams each and another weighing 1.43 grams, said Diel.
Police said the confiscated suspected shabu have a market value of around P3.312 million, at P10,000 per gram.
Balboa is a native of Bago City temporarily residing in Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City.

Esmeralda is from Barangay Mambulac, also in Silay, but now residing in Muntinlupa City. They were allegedly childhood friends.
From what the police have gathered, Esmeralda has convinced Balboa to get into the illegal drug trade.

According to Diel, Balboa told them the package was consigned to him onlybecause Esmeralda had no valid identification card to use in claiming it.

Diel said they learned Esmeralda is the No. 1 most wanted person in Muntinlupa City (he was charged with frustrated murder). He is also in Muntinlupa police’s watch list of drug personalities, said Diel.

Esmeralda claimed his frustrated murder case has been dismissed.

Diel said Esmeraldaarrived in Silay City only two weeks ago.
Both Balboa and Esmeralda were detained at the Silay City police station lockup cell./PN
