ILOILO – To expand access to healthcare for Iloilo’s most vulnerable residents, the provincial government secured approval for a P43.79-million medical assistance program targeting indigent and financially incapacitated patients across seven government-run hospitals.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) granted Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. the authority to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 for the implementation of the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) Program.
Under the MAIFIP Program, the funding will be distributed among the following Iloilo provincial government-operated hospitals:
* Sara District Hospital – P12 million
* Jesus M. Colmenares District Hospital – P12 million
* Iloilo Provincial Hospital – P7.79 million
* Gov. Niel D. Tupas Sr. District Hospital – P7 million
* San Joaquin Mother and Child Hospital – P2 million
* Rep. Pedro G. Trono Memorial Hospital – P2 million
* Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Sr. Memorial District Hospital – P1 million
The total funding from the DOH amounts to P43,790,000, aimed at covering hospitalization expenses, medicines, and other medical services for qualified patients who cannot afford treatment.
