BACOLOD City – Nine bridges in this city are currently undergoing retrofitting.
Engr. Leah Jamero of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ District Engineering Office here said P59 million was allocated for the retrofitting project that aims to enhance structural integrity, extend lifespan, and improve safety of the following: Bakyas Bridge, Banago Bridge 2, Cabalagnan Bridge 2, Loygoy Bridge 2, Lupit bridges 1 and 2, Magsungay Bridge 2, and Mambuloc bridges 1 and 2.
“These upgrades address aging infrastructure, adapt to increased load demands, and ensure compliance with modern standards. This will also help mitigate risks from natural disasters like earthquakes, ultimately ensuring continued functionality and public safety with minimal disruption,” she added.
Meanwhile, the city’s District Engineering Office assured that there will be no road closure despite the ongoing repair of bridges. Only one lane is currently being repaired and the other lane is still passable, said.
It added that traffic enforcers are deployed in the said areas to prevent traffic congestion./PN
