ILOILO City – Agriculture secretary Emmanuel Piñol turned over some P75.6 million worth of machinery and equipment to farmers associations from the provinces of Aklan, Iloilo and Capiz.
The Friday distribution was part of the Yolanda Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program, which aims to encourage more farmers to mechanize as strategy to lessen farm losses.
Aklan received 92 units of different farm equipment worth P17.284 million while Capiz got 193 units worth P32.47 million.
Iloilo, on the other hand, received 169 units worth P25.884 million.
The units that Aklan received were 15 floating tillers, 50 rice reapers, six shredders, six corn shellers, and 15 pump and engines.
Capiz got 30 floating tillers, 100 rice reapers, nine shredders, nine corn shellers, and 45 pump and engines.
Iloilo, meanwhile, was given 20 floating tillers, 100 rice reapers, seven shredders, 12 corn shellers, and 30 pump and engines.
The farmers’ association of each province will manage device a scheme on how its members can use the equipment. (With PNA/PN)
