P8.6-million relief supplies distributed prior to poll ban

BACOLOD City – An estimated P8.6 million worth of relief supplies and roofing materials were distributed on Thursday to victims of super typhoon “Odette” in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental a day before the implementation of the election ban marking the beginning of the local campaign period for the May 9, 2022 elections.

A total of 2,485 residents of the town received roofing materials and food packs from Negros Occidental governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, together with Negros Occidental 5th District  Provincial Board member Rita Gatuslao and Hinigaran town mayor Jose Nadie Arceo.

Aside from the relief and roofing materials, Lacson also handed over 2,500 banana seedlings from residents belonging to the 24 barangays.

Lacson also pledged that they will resume giving out relief assistance to the affected residents once the campaign period is over./PN
