ILOILO City – Authorities apprehended a high-value drug suspect and confiscated more than 120 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P816,000 during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Juan, Molo district.

The 32-year-old suspect, identified only by the alias “Juniel,” is a resident of Molo and worked as a construction worker.

Recovered during the operation on Feb. 4 were 16 heat-sealed and two knot-tied transparent sachets of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.

The operation was carried out by the Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with the ICPO Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Iloilo City Police Station 4’s Station Drug Enforcement Team, and the Regional Intelligence Unit 6.

Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, Region 6 police director, said the arrest reflects the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) ongoing commitment to protecting communities from illegal drugs.

“We also encourage the public to continue working hand in hand with the PNP by reporting suspicious activities and supporting our anti-illegal drugs initiatives, as community cooperation remains vital in maintaining peace, safety, and a drug-free society,” he added.

The suspect was detained, facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
