SAN JOSE, Antique – Millions worth of farm equipment from the Department of Agriculture (DA) were turned over recently to farmers’ cooperatives and associations in 16 municipalities of Antique.
The equipment, purchased through the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund of the government, could help Antiqueño farmers increase their produce faster and in more convenient ways.
The ceremonial turnover was held at the EBJ Grand Stadium in Barangay 5 here.
The Philippine Center for Post-harvest Development and Mechanization or PhilMEch, one of the attached agencies of the DA, granted the P98,753,000 worth of 149 machineries.
The machineries included four-wheel tractors, hand tractors, floating tillers, rice precision seeders, and combine harvesters, among others.
This program is in line with the government’s Rice Tarrification Law to give farmers access to free and efficient rice machineries./PN
