Pacquiao gives away P1.5-M cash during Bacolod visit

BACOLOD City – Sen. Manny Pacquiao caused a stir on Saturday for randomly handing out money to local residents here.

Pacquiao, who visited this city over the weekend for the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) game, was mobbed by eager supporters after he gave away wads of cash worth P1.5 million. He started sharing P1,000 to each residents on Sept. 20.

Cong. Greg Gasataya, for his part, thanked the fighting senator and lauded the latter’s kindness.

Tuod guid na nga mabatyagan mo ang iya heart nga mag-share sang blessings sa mga taga-Bacolod,” Gasataya said.

Since bagging the World Boxing Association super welterweight title following a split decision win over American fighter Keith Thurman last July, the senator has been giving out P1,000 .
On Sept. 21, residents waited waited at the GT Hotel, where Pacquiao and his wife Jinkee were staying. Pacquiao then proceeded to hand out cash to the crowds that were stretched along both sides of the road.

The senator, founder of the MPBL, led the ceremonial toss for the game between Bacolod Master Sardines and Soccsksargen Marlins at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in this city./PN
