THE AIR was filled with nostalgia and pride as friends, family, and longtime supporters gathered for the launch of Nobody But Jerry, the memoir of former mayor Jerry P. Treñas, on March 17 at Ker and Co. Building in Iloilo City.

The book offers readers a closer look at the man behind the public office — his struggles, his principles, and the decisions that helped transform Iloilo into the progressive and vibrant city it is today.
In his remarks, Treñas spoke with gratitude as he recalled not only the milestones of his political career but also the personal experiences that strengthened his commitment to serve. He paid tribute to his family as his unwavering source of strength, especially his wife, Rosalie, and their children — incumbent Mayor Raisa, Carlo, Miguel, Gerry, and Paolo — as well as their spouses and grandchildren. He also thanked the Ilonggos who trusted him and stood by his side during some of the most defining moments in the city’s history.

Treñas started the memoir after retiring from politics, completing it over the course of a year. Despite being diagnosed with a medical condition and undergoing chemotherapy, he persevered, continuing to proofread the manuscript with the steadfast support of his wife, Rosalie.
For him, the memoir tells more than his own story. It is the story of a city and the people who believed in his vision of creating a better future together./PN
