GUIMARAS – This year’s “Ang Pagtaltal sa Balaan Bukid” was successful. No major incidents were recorded on Good Friday, April 7, at the Balaan Bukid Shrine in Barangay Balcon Melliza, Jordan, Guimaras, according to Ang Pagtaltal sa Balaan Bukid Foundation Inc. president Bartolome Togonon.
“Nag-ugyon ang panahon tapos ang security plan natuman man. Nahanda-an gid sang tanan nga agencies involved. Ara gid sila, ka-smooth sang dalagan sang street play,” Togonon told Panay News on Sunday.
Togonon said the success was achieved through the support of the local government of Jordan, headed by Mayor Cresente Chavez Jr., the provincial government, headed by Gov. JC Rahman Nava, and national government agencies, including the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Marine Industry Authority, Iloilo City Public Safety and Transportation Management, and sea vessel operators who ensured the safety and convenience of tourists at the Parola wharf in Iloilo City and the Jordan wharf in Jordan.
Emergency responders, volunteers, and barangay officials also assisted, added Togonon.
Togonon thanked the street drama participants, under production director Vicente B. Maravilla, a secondary school teacher at Jordan National High School.
“Salamat gid sa inyo support kag sa nagkadto diri para magpamalandong. For three years, wala kita nakahiwat sini, but sa subong nga tuig nagbalik kay ginhatagan kita sang aton mahal nga Dios sang maayo nga lawas kag natuman,” added the foundation president.
The “Ang Pagtaltal sa Balaan Bukid” is a street drama that runs for three hours, from 12 noon to 3 p.m., and starts from the Smallest Plaza and ends at the Balaan Bukid Shrine.
The 131-strong casts include professionals, learners, and out-of-school youth, among others./PN
