ILOILO – A 35-year-old man was shot to death in Barangay Panalian, Maasin, Iloilo, on Saturday, April 8.
Farmer Gilbert Constantino was allegedly challenging suspect, Rodel Nepomuceno, 27, an active auxiliary member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit, to a fight.
Maasin Municipal Police Station (MPS) officer-in-charge Captain Jayson Mausig said the two bore old grudges against each other.
Nepomuceno allegedly shot Constantino, who was brandishing his bolo, Mausig said, adding that the victim tried to run away but was chased by the suspect.
Constantino was brought to the Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival.
The bolo and the suspect’s 20-gauge shotgun were recovered.
The victim’s family will be filing homicide charges against Nepomuceno, who is being held at the Maasin MPS, added Mausig./PN
