BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) requested the City Agriculture Office to provide a quarterly report on the conservation and development of coastal and fisheries resources in the city.
City Ordinance No. 618, or An Act Providing for a Sustainable Management, Conservation and Development of Coastal and Fisheries Resources in Bacolod City – authored by Councilor Bartolome Orola – requires the City Agriculture Office to submit a quarterly report on fines, apprehension and accomplishment of the programs created under the ordinance.
“Such information is vital to the optimal effectiveness of our city’s measures to enforce the fisheries laws, as well as our city’s advocacy for the alleviation of poverty and the protection of the rights of our fisherfolk,” said Orola, who chairs the SP committee on fisheries and aquatic resources.
Data in the report will be used by the SP to come up with “more improved and up-to-date legislations,” added Orola./PN
