MANILA – “Wait until 2034.”
This was Davao City’s Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s reply to those who want her to run for president.
“I am pleading to them to please allow me to run for President [in] 2034, if at that time there is something I can do to help the country,” Duterte-Carpio said.
Calendars with the words “Run, Sara, Run for President for 2022” were reportedly scattered around Quezon City on Saturday, and even in Davao de Oro, a big streamer was posted with a message , “Run, Sara, Run.”
Despite various calls and paraphernalia used by her supporters urging her to run for the next presidential elections, the Davao City mayor says that she does not want to seek the presidency in 2022.
Duterte-Carpio also warned the public not to contribute to groups who are fundraising for her ‘candidacy’ next year./PN
