BACOLOD City – Only 10 percent of smoking ban violators in the city have complied with their penalties, according to Councilor Caesar Distrito.
Out of the 826 violators (106 establishments and 720 individuals), there were only 35 individuals and 20 establishments that paid their fines while 15 individuals rendered community, Distrito added.
Distrito reminded those who have not settled their fines or rendered community service that the city government will be filing charges against them by January.
He added that the city’s anti-smoking task force will still apprehend violators this holiday season.
The city government collected a total of P37,000 from the fines of violators from September to Dec. 20 this year./PN
