MANILA – The PBA Commissioner’s Office gave a green light on two blockbuster trades that send rookie Bobby Ray Parks Jr. to the TNT KaTropa and Chris Banchero to Magnolia Hotshots.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said the league approved the deal that transferred Parks to the KaTropa in exchange for Celedonio Trollano, Anthony Semerad and 2021 first round pick going to the Elite.
The approved trade was a revised version after the Elite reportedly rejected KaTropa’s initial offer of just sending Trollano and the 2019 and 2021 first round draft picks to get Parks’ services.
Parks was a great addition for the KaTropa in the latter’s bid to prevent the San Miguel Beermen from achieving a grand slam, while Trollano and Semerad could not do anything to salvage the Elite as they were already eliminated.
The PBA, however, took its time before approving Banchero’s move to the PBA Governors’ Cup defending champions Hotshots for Rodney Brondial and Robbie Herndon to Alaska Aces.
Banchero, who averages 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup, will make the Hotshots’ guard formidable. He joins forces with Paul Lee, Andy Mark Barroca, Jiovani Jalalon, and Justin Melton.
Brondial and Herndon, on the other hand, will provide youth and height for the team as Aces head coach Jeffrey Cariaso said they are in the process of rebuilding for the future.
Aside from Banchero, the Aces is looking to trade veteran big man Vic Manuel to the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters in exchange for former Rookie of the Year Jason Perkins and other players./PN
