
MANILA – Centro Escolar University Scorpions has sustained its unbeaten run in the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup. It routed Hazchem, 126-76, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Maodo Malick Diouf finished with 19 points, 21 rebounds and seven blocks on Monday night.
Dave Bernabe added 19 markers while Kyle Sunga and Ilonggo Franz Diaz had 17 and 14 markers, respectively.
The 5-0 Scorpions started the match with 11 straight points before finishing the opening quarter with a 14-3 scoring run en route to a 32-15 advantage.
It would lead by as much as 53 points, 124-71, after a Bernabe slam with 1:24 remaining in the game.
The Scorpions cruised to the 50-point win even without Rich Guinitaran.
“That’s what we’re looking for: the top two and having the twice-to-beat advantage,” Scorpions head coach Derrick Pumaren said.
Raymark Matias had 17 points to lead Hazchem, which absorbed its fourth straight loss and dropped to 1-4.
In the first game, BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare Saints secured the top seed in Group B after tearing Black Mamba Energy Drink apart by 39 points, 161-122.
Malian big man Mohammed Pare set the pace for the Saints with 31 points and 19 rebounds./PN
