MANILA – By beating of Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-12, 25-22, 19-25, 25-18, at the San Juan Arena, Creamline Cool Smashers kept its unbeaten slate in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.

Alyssa Valdez tallied triple-double 25 points, 12 excellent digs and 11 excellent receptions on Saturday night.

Jessica Galanza and Celine Domingo had 11 each as the Cool Smashers improved to 6-0 win-loss slate.

After handily winning the first two sets, the Cool Smashers failed to close out the Flying Titans in the third frame after the latter turned a slim 19-17 lead to a 23-18 spread forcing a fourth set.

The Cool Smashers, however, was able to regain its form in the fourth set. It surged to a 22-14 advantage behind Valdez, Galanza and Domingo on their way to sealing the win.

“The key on our win today is the distribution of Jia (Morado),” said Valdez. “Because their strength was blocking she had to spread out the attackers para hindi nila mabasa kung saan kami pupunta.”

As the Flying Titans dropped to 2-3, Kat Tolentino finished with 20 points, on 14 attacks, five blocks and a service ace, while Madeleine Madayag added 13 markers, including 11 attacks.

In the first game, Bali Pure Purest Water Defenders dispatched Chef’s Classics Lady Red Spikers, 25-22, 20-25, 27-25, 25-22.

Menchie Tubiera had 18 points to lead the way for the Water Defenders./PN
