MANILA – Zark’s Burger-Lyceum Jawbreakers cruised to its second straight win in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup with a 109-85 domination over AMA Online Education Titans at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Mike Nzeusseu posted double-double 17 points and 10 rebounds while Jaymar Perez contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds for Jawbreakers, which improved to a 2-1 record on Thursday night.
Jawbreakers waxed hot with conversions from Perez, Nzeusseu and Wilson Baltazar for an early 31-19 edge. The lead grew further, reaching as high as 27 points in the second half.
“We want to keep on sustaining the energy,” Jawbreakers head coach Topex Robinson said. “We want to change how the D-League will be played from hereon. They have to keep up with us rather than us keeping up with the D-League.”
Genmar Bragais top-scored with 29 points while Michael Canete contributed 22 points for Titans, which slid to the last place after suffering its second straight loss in as many games.
Meanwhile, Simon Camacho came up with a go-ahead 3-point play in the final 10 seconds as Akari-Adamson University Falcons debuted with an 80-75 win over Marinerong Pilipino Skippers.
After being down for most of the way, Falcons came up with a huge run in the fourth to knot the count at 75-all. Falcons surged with Camacho making a 3-point play before Jerrick Ahanmisi iced the win with two free throws./PN
