MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed former Albay congressman Joey Salceda as secretary of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO), entrusting the veteran lawmaker and economist with steering the administration’s legislative agenda through Congress.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed Salceda’s appointment on Tuesday during a press briefing and in a message to Palace reporters.
Salceda will lead the PLLO, the Office of the President’s primary coordinating body with Congress, responsible for securing support for the administration’s priority measures in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
A seasoned economist and veteran legislator, Salceda served multiple terms as representative of Albay and was also governor of the province.
During his tenure in the House of Representatives, he chaired the Committee on Ways and Means, where he authored and sponsored several landmark measures on tax reform, investments, and economic policy.
As PLLO secretary, Salceda will oversee coordination between Malacañang, the Senate, and the House of Representatives to help secure the passage of the administration’s priority legislation.
His appointment also marks a return to the Cabinet nearly two decades after serving as presidential chief of staff in 2007./PN
