ILOILO — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Western Visayas has deployed humanitarian assistance to residents affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu Province on September 30, 2025, leaving several communities in dire need of help.
Under the leadership of Commodore Ludovico D. Librilla Jr., the PCG mobilized a coordinated relief mission in partnership with Coast Guard District Western Visayas (CGDWV) Stations, OpCon Units, the Coast Guard Auxiliary District Western Visayas (CGADWV), and various partner agencies.
The relief operation involved the collection, preparation, and transport of essential supplies donated by local stakeholders, volunteers, and civic partners. The items included food packs, bottled water, clothes, instant noodles, and hygiene essentials for affected families.
To ensure prompt delivery, the BRP Corregidor (AE-891) was designated to ferry the relief cargo to Cebu. The vessel carried an extensive load consisting of 100 boxes of 5-liter drinking water, 85 boxes of 4-liter drinking water, 54 pieces of 6.6-liter drinking water, seven pieces of 10-liter drinking water, 52 boxes of 500 ml drinking water, 120 pieces of 350 ml drinking water, and 41 boxes of 1-liter drinking water. It also transported 1,694 pieces of canned goods, six bags of assorted clothes, 299 cups of noodles, and 288 packs of instant noodles, all bound for distribution to the hardest-hit communities in Cebu.
According to the PCG-Western Visayas, the mission was not only about providing material assistance but also about bringing hope and solidarity to those struggling in the aftermath of the disaster.
“From Western Visayas to Cebu — we don’t just deliver aid, we deliver hope,” the district stated, affirming its commitment to compassion, unity, and resilience.
