ILOILO City – Data of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 and Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) on the drug affectation in this city differ.
According to PDEA regional director Gil Pabilona, 129 Iloilo City barangays were affected by illegal drugs and 2,345 personalities were either users, pushers or financiers.
ICPO director Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso, on the other hand, reported 176 barangays affected by illegal drugs.
Iloilo City has a total of 180 barangays.
ICPO’s data also listed 2,480 drug personalities of which 150 were in the police’s target list even before the Philippine National Police kicked off its Oplan Double Barrel against drug trafficking.
According to Pabilona, PDEA’s data on drug personalities may drop, citing the 207 rehabilitated drug personalities through the community-based rehabilitation program of the city government.
He also said the 157 drug personalities who underwent rehabilitation under the supervision of the Police Regional Office 6 were not yet factored in PDEA’s data.
Pabilona said their data was based on the list submitted by barangays councils or their Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADAC).
“Nakuha natin ‘yan after validation from the field,” said Pabilona during the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) meeting on Jan. 23.
Meanwhile, ICPO further broke down its data on drug affected barangays by district as follows:
* 41 slightly affected barangays in the City Proper
* one moderately affected and 36 slightly affected barangays in La Paz
* 42 slightly affected barangays in Jaro
* one moderately affected and 24 slightly affected barangays in Molo
* one seriously affected, seven moderately affected and 10 slightly affected barangays in Mandurriao; and
* one moderately affected and 12 slightly affected barangays in Arevalo.
Canieso said there were four unaffected barangays – Ed Ganzon, Kauswagan, Sampaguita, and Osmeña, all in the City Proper.
“I-validate pa gid naton ini nga mga data,” said Canieso.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, CPOC chairperson, urged PDEA and ICPO to compare notes and reconcile their data.
