PH falters to Malaysia in ASEAN Basketball

MANILA – The struggle continues for the San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas.

It suffered a 92-80 defeat in the hands of the Malaysian Dragons in the 2019-2020 ASEAN Basketball League on Wednesday night at the MABA Stadium in Malaysia.

With new reinforcement Justin Brownlee unable to come on time, Alab Pilipinas had another flat start. They fell behind 9-20 early with the Malaysians getting their shooting touch early.

Things could not get any better for Alab Pilipinas with the Malaysians dropping a 15-4 blast to start the second frame and extend the deficit to 16-34.

It went on to its largest at 88-61 in the fourth stanza.

Will Artino finished with double-double 29 points and 10 rebounds while Terrel David had 26 points built on six triples to go along with 10 assists as the Malaysians remain at fifth place with a 8-7 card.

Nick King top-scored with 28 points but committed a game-high four turnovers. Samuel Deguara was foul-plagued all game long and was limited to just four points in 14 minutes of action.

Jordan Heading was also impressive with 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting with six boards but was not enough.

The Philippine-based squad slumped to 9-6 in the standings./PN
