MANILA – The Philippine Women’s National Football Team capped off its campaign in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Qualifiers with a 7-0 victory over Palestine on Wednesday at the Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

Joyce Semacio started the onslaught for the Malditas with an effortless penalty goal in the 17th minute making her the only player from the squad to score in all three matches of the Philippine team in the qualifier.

The Malditas doubled the lead at the 29th minute on an emphatic strike from close range by Alisha Del Campo followed by another easy conversion from Eva Madarang for a 3-0 halftime edge.

Madarang notched her second goal of the match fifteen minutes after restart as she received a fine Sara Castañeda through-ball. Patrice Impelido then joined the scoring with a header from a pass by Semacio.

Castañeda also contributed for the Philippines side with an easy hit from a long throw-in by Madarang. She later completed a brace with a penalty conversion at the 70th minute.

Despite the lopsided win, the Malditas’ second in three games in the qualifier, they still failed to move past the next round as only the top seed in the group stage will excel./PN
