MANILA – The Philippine women’s national football team reached the semifinals of the 2019 AFF Women’s Championship after a 4-0 win over Singapore at the IPE Chonburi Stadium 1 in Chonburi, Thailand.
Alisha del Campo opened the scoring for the Malditas in the opening minute on Friday after shocking the defense of the Singaporeans.
The lead was doubled at the sixth minute courtesy of Quinley Quezada.
Del Campo scored again late in the first half while a costly mistake from the Singaporean goalkeeper gave her the hat trick in the opening minutes of the second half.
The Marnelli Dimzon-mentored women’s football team ended the group stage with nine points, winning all but their game against host and defending champion Thailand on Aug. 21.
The Malditas will vie for a championship spot when it battles Group B leader Vietnam, which won all of its three matches in lopsided fashion for nine points total.
Thailand, on the other hand, will face Vietnam./PN
