Philippine Army’s 301IB gets new commander

ILOILO City – The Philippine Army’s 301st Infantry Brigade (3rd Infantry Division) based in Dingle, Iloilo has a new commander.

Colonel Pio Diñoso formally assumed the post Monday, Dec. 5.

He replaced Brigadier General Eric Uchida, who was promoted to a position in the national headquarters.

Diñoso vowed to continue the projects, programs and plans of Uchida.

While he considers his new assignment a “big challenge,” the former Division chief for logistics assured familiarity to Panay and Negros islands, the brigade’s area of responsibility.

Diñoso was also once an executive officer for the 303rd Infantry Brigade and commander of the 79th Infantry Battalion in Negros Oriental.

“I’m very familiar to this place, and somehow I know the character of Ilonggos,” he said.

Meanwhile Uchida thanked the stakeholders, including the Church, the local officials, the press, and the community for their help.

He served the 301st Infantry Brigade for two years.

Uchida led the brigade in various peace and order operations, especially during the 2015 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, the recent Balikatan exercises and the May elections.

He said he was able to “instill the highest form of military discipline” among his men, resulting in “zero human rights violations.”

“I hope [Diñoso] would continue my legacy, and for local officials, the community and the media to continue supporting the military,” Uchida said./PN
