CAPIZ – As part of the 30th Police Community Relations Month celebration themed “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang Gusto ng Pulis: Ligtas Ka,” the Pilar Municipal Police Station (MPS) has rolled out a campaign targeting two pressing issues affecting children — bullying and child labor.
Spearheaded by Major Rachelle D. Garnica, the initiative was conducted in partnership with Pilar Elementary School, under the supervision of Principal II Benny A. Blancaver and with the support of the school’s Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) officers.
The Anti-Bullying and Child Labor Awareness Program aimed not only to educate but also to empower students by informing them of their rights and fostering empathy among peers. It emphasized the harmful effects of bullying and child labor through engaging discussions, interactive activities, and informative sessions tailored to young learners.
Students were encouraged to reflect on their experiences and were taught how to recognize and report instances of abuse, mistreatment, or exploitation. By involving the youth in these important conversations, the Pilar MPS hopes to foster a culture of trust, understanding, and cooperation between law enforcement and the community.
The program also serves as a platform for instilling values such as accountability, compassion, and social responsibility among students. It equips them with critical tools to navigate peer pressure, societal expectations, and potential dangers they may encounter both in school and beyond.
Through this initiative, the Pilar police reaffirm their commitment to serving and protecting the most vulnerable members of society — children.
Beyond addressing immediate concerns, the long-term goal of the program is to help shape a generation of responsible citizens and future leaders who advocate for justice, empathy, and a safe, inclusive society./PN
