ROXAS City – A 20-year-old tricycle driver was arrested after authorities seized illegal drugs and an unlicensed firearm during a police operation at around 6:20 p.m. on July 21 in Barangay Poblacion, President Roxas, Capiz.
According to the President Roxas Municipal Police Station (MPS), patrolling officers spotted the suspect identified as alias “Mark” standing beside a convenience store with a firearm visibly tucked into his waistband.
The suspect tried to flee upon seeing the policemen but was quickly apprehended. His companions, however, managed to escape. Police said the suspect failed to present any documentation or permits for the firearm in his possession.
Recovered during the arrest were a caliber .38 revolver with two live rounds of ammunition, two sachets of suspected shabu, one sachet of marijuana, a knife, a lighter, and a mobile phone.
The suspect, detained at the President Roxas MPS, will be charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
