CAPIZ — Police operatives here seized an estimated P420,000 worth of illegal drugs after serving a search warrant at the residence of a public high school teacher in Barangay Casanayan, Pilar town on the morning of December 26.
The operation, conducted by the Pilar Municipal Police Station (MPS), was carried out at around 8 a.m. pursuant to a search warrant issued under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities said the search was part of intensified efforts to curb illegal drug activities and protect public safety. The suspect had reportedly been under surveillance following information linking the individual to alleged drug-related activities.
During the operation, police recovered 11 sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 60 grams, with an estimated street value of P408,000.
Also seized were two sachets of suspected marijuana weighing about 10 grams, valued at around P12,000.
Police said all confiscated items were properly marked, inventoried, and turned over to the Pilar MPS for documentation and further investigation.
Appropriate charges are expected to be filed against the suspect, police officials said.
The Capiz Police Provincial Office, in a statement, reiterated its commitment to intensifying anti-illegal drug operations and called on the public to actively cooperate by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
The case has drawn concern from residents, particularly due to the suspect’s profession as an educator, prompting discussions among community leaders and parents on the importance of preventive education and strong anti-drug advocacy.
