ILOILO City – A doctor from Barangay Yulo Drive, Arevalo district reported to the police that she had been duped.
Dr. Ma. Theresa Castañeda, 55, said she paid a woman from Barangay Sinikway, Lapuz thousands of pesos for domestic and international plane tickets that she later discovered were fake.
Castañeda told the police on March 29 she received a text message on Dec. 6, 2016 from Bernadeth Felicidario offering domestic and international plane tickets.
Around 5 p.m. that day, Castañeda bought from Felicidario at the Iloilo Medical Center on Bonifacio Drive one round-trip Iloilo-Manila ticket for P3,951.
On Feb. 14 this year, around 4 p.m., she again bought nine round-trip Manila-Osaka (Japan) tickets. Castañeda paid a partial P84,584. She paid her P10,678 balance two days later, said the police.
But the doctor later discovered the tickets were nonexistent in the airline company’s system.
She told the police her tickets indicated they were that of Cebu Pacific but the flight numbers belonged to Philippines Airlines./PN
