PNP places all units on alert ahead of CPP anniversary

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has directed all police units across the country to be on alert and vigilant as the founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) draws near, the PNP spokesman said on Monday.

The communist group has been known to initiative atrocities during the celebration of the CPP’s anniversary, Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac said in a press conference.

“Well, traditionally, over the past decades and years, ang Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army ay naglulunsad ng mga bagong pagatake laban sa pwersa ng pamahalaan sa tuwing sumasapit ang kanilang founding anniversary,” Banac noted.

On Dec. 26, the communist group is celebrating its founding anniversary. The National Capital Region Police Office acting director Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas has ensured that Metro Manila cops would be on alert on that date.

He said security forces are still discussing whether the government should declare a Christmas truce with the communist rebels.

(GMA News)
