BACOLOD City – The observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day across the Negros Island Region (NIR) concluded peacefully, with police recording zero major incidents during the five-day Undas 2026 security operations.

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) reported that approximately 377,587 people visited cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria across the region from October 29 to November 2.

November 2 recorded the highest number of visitors, with 182,592 people paying their respects to their departed loved ones.

The peaceful observance was supported by the deployment of 3,119 personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), partner government agencies, and force multipliers.

Police personnel maintained security visibility in cemeteries, memorial parks, columbaria, major thoroughfares, transportation hubs, and other public convergence areas to assist visitors and respond to security concerns.

PRO-NIR Regional Director Police Brigadier General Rudecindo L. Reales also personally inspected deployed personnel and security arrangements in various cemeteries, directing continuous security assessments to ensure operational readiness and address possible security gaps.

Reales attributed the peaceful observance to careful planning, operational preparedness, and strong coordination among police personnel, partner agencies, force multipliers, and local government units.

He commended all personnel for their dedication and commitment to maintaining public safety throughout the deployment period.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City also recorded zero crime incidents in public and private cemeteries during its four-day Undas 2026 security operations, which ended on November 2.

City Administrator Atty. Mark Steven Mayo said the final situation report showed that the observance was generally peaceful and orderly following days of preparation, security monitoring, and coordination among government agencies.

Aside from the absence of reported crimes, the city recorded no complaints from visitors who had difficulty locating the graves of their departed loved ones.

Traffic flow along roads leading to and surrounding cemeteries also remained manageable, with no major congestion reported.

The city government maintained order in designated vending areas by clearing major roads of unauthorized vendors while providing designated spaces for ambulant flower and food vendors with special permits.

Sanitation and cleaning operations were also sustained in cemeteries and surrounding areas, including the Burgos Market area.

Mayo cited the cooperation of Barangays Villamonte, Handumanan, and Granada, which manage the city’s three public cemeteries, in implementing security and public assistance measures.

The PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection, Public Order and Safety Office, and Bacolod Traffic and Transportation Management Department handled security, traffic management, and public order operations.

The General Services Office and Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office maintained sanitation, while the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office provided meals for deployed personnel and prepared emergency assistance.

Private cemetery administrators also coordinated with the city government to ensure the safety of visitors.

Mayo said Mayor Greg Gasataya thanked government personnel, partner agencies, barangay officials, private cemetery administrators, and other stakeholders for their contributions to the successful implementation of the Undas security operations./PN
