MANILA – Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors halted the streaking Hair Fairy-Air Force Jet Spikers with a 25-19, 25-20, 29-27 win in the 2017 Premier V-League Open Conference at the San Juan Arena.
Myla Pablo led the way with 19 points, all from attacks, for the defending champions Lady Warriors, which secured the second semifinals seat after improving to 5-1 on Wednesday night.
Elaine Kasilag and Jeanette Panaga added 11 markers apiece while Cai Nepomuceno contributed 10 points for Lady Warriors, which is eyeing its fourth V-League title in as many conferences.
Lady Warriors waxed hot early in the opening set behind Panaga and Nepomuceno for a 16-7 lead. Jet Spikers was able to rally to as close as 22-17 but clutch hits from Pablo clinched the set for Pocari.
Air Force gained the early lead in the second set at 16-13 but Lady Warriors quickly bounced back behind Pablo to take a 18-17 lead. Errors by Jet Spikers down the stretch allowed Pocari to complete a come-from-behind win in the set.
Lady Warriors seemed headed for an easy win after building an early 12-7 lead but Jet Spikers rallied back to keep it a close set by forcing several ties. Last deadlock is at 27 before two errors by Jet Spikers paved the way for a Lady Warriors win.
“Maganda ang rally namin, ang program and mindset ko para kanila is to focus sa first ball. Assessment namin is lumabas lahat ng resulta mula sa training,” said Lady Warriors head coach Rico De Guzman.
Aklanon Dell Palomata and Iari Yongco finished with 8 points apiece while Joy Cases added 7 for Jet Spikers, which dropped to third place with 4-2./PN
