BACOLOD City – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) – Negros Occidental has slated a series of activities for December which is observed as the “Month of Overseas Filipinos.”
POEA was at Kabankalan Catholic College (KCC) in Kabankalan City on Dec. 2 to conduct a job fair, wherein six licensed recruitment agencies participated.
Glenda Aligonza, POEA unit coordinator, said the number of qualified applicants would depend on the opening of job order vacancies of the agencies in the job fair.
Qualified applicants will be deployed to Middle East countries such as Dubai, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, among others.
POEA also joined the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in its anniversary job fair on Dec. 6.
Twelve licensed recruitment agencies took part in the job fair under POEA, while the local companies were handled by DOLE, said Aligonza.
POEA will also hold an anti-illegal recruitment seminar on Dec. 8, in cooperation with various national government agencies.
“We will be conducting capability enhancement training for applicants with regard to overseas employment program of the government,” Aligonza said.
She said there are certain rule changes in the overseas workers programs, and the seminar will help orient applicants.
“POEA, being the lead agency in the processing and documentation of overseas workers, will be having information dissemination campaign with regards to POEA rules and regulations,” she said. (PIA)
